Cling... (email notification sound).
I finally have my feed back for my first project on my study in television documentary production. Maybe posting the feed back is not a good idea but i think its a better way to release the suffer and pain in my head.I need a hint or a way out to find any solution to deal with my situation. Some might say i am exaggerating or over dramatic about my condition and now i am getting more concerns with what others think about me and my ideas.
My "dramatic" problems right now is with how to develop a proper narratives story applied to the three stage act and finding the proper premise. Damn! how i hate those words. The more i think about it the more weight i carried on my shoulder. And, so on and on, i can't seem to work in structurally order and developing my creatives ideas. Or maybe, i am not that creative enough to work in this area. Or maybe i don't read or see enough references to engage more with my study and things that related to my focus area of work and future plan. Yeah, seems that i have a clear future plans. To be honest, i don't have a proper future plans, maybe i am no good at anything. Crap!.
Enough with the bluff. Here it is my feed back on my film follows with feed back for my self critical evaluation essay.

Project:
You have a number of challenges that you need to consider. Some you are aware of, others perhaps need pointing out to you. You have a challenge your subject in the first place in that there is a question mark about why him and his family. What is there about your main character's life or situation that you want to tell a story about and why now? I am convinced that you did not spend enough time choosing an appropriate person with a story to tell or in which you could see a clear story. Casting is as important in a documentary film as it is in a fiction film. Nevertheless, a number of interesting things are alluded to in the interview with your chosen subject - such as the challenges around being a Muslim in Britain or the challenges of raising his three sons in the Muslim faith when living in Britain. However, you take neither of these potentially interesting themes and develop them into a coherent narrative. Your character talks in vague terms and is allowed to do this and your visuals and events neither build on this or support them. Your shots seem arbitrary, repetitive and seem to have no function. They are not part of a structured approach to telling a story, nor do they reveal anything specific that is pertinent to your underlying theme or narrative. Nor have you set the wider context that you briefly touch on in your evaluation. The qualify of what you have shot, and the quality of your sound, is far short of what I would expect at this stage in your development. Shots are often out of focus, composition seems very uncertain and there seems little consistency in what you are shooting. I'm afraid the films comes across as unprepared and severely under researched - something you acknowledge in your evaluation. I know you can do better! Having said all of this, I accept that you have learned a lot and that you have to some degree identified some things that you know you need to develop.
Critical Evaluation Essay:
While your description of the process is expansive and you have discussed some of the practical challenges well, identifying some things you could have done better, you have not really summarised what you have learned and how you are going to move forward on the basis of this learning. Importantly, you have not given us andy critical context, neither in the form of theories or critical writings, or in the form of the influences of other films and filmmakers. (You only have two brief references in your bibliography and filmography combined) I appreciate that you have discussed the struggles you have had getting to grasp with the story an narrative of this project and have highlighted the challenges you had, but it is important for reflexive piece like this , that we get a sense of your thoughts on the final outcome and what you would seek to do differently next time. You also talk about certain things that are irrelevant, almost excuses, which you must avoid.
And that is my feed back for my first assignment on Creative Development Project module. The result is I can't really develop my creative ideas focusing on developing the narratives story on the subject i am working on. Sure and true that i am well unprepared and under researched and yet again the habit that i had is mentioning some of irrelevant things to the project which my Tutor mentioned as "excuses". Yes, totally right, i hide behind my excuses, defending myself with it, which i know is just going to make me more the same as before, showing that i haven't not grown well, with my study and personality growth. What a shame!
And now, i am blaming myself of what i did and feel really, really embarrassed of it. What should i do?. Ah!, i already know what i should do. Work my ass off, don't over think and just do it!
Next problem is that i am losing my confidence and questioning about the ability that i have. Will i ever be success on this? or at least will i ever be good at this?.
"MANJA SIH LO PET!!!! DICEKOKKIN WAKTU ITU, KARENA ADA GW. MASA IYA, SELAMA JALAN BARENG SM GW, LO GA BELAJAR APA-APA?"
To be continued.
